Buy the Samsung NC20 in the USA

Well not quite, we’re still waiting to hear from official suppliers and Samsung about a release date for the US.

In the meantime there is a solution.  eBay!  A few NC20′s have been put up on sale on the auction website eBay.  With some sellers offering to ship to the USA, like this one for example, however this is only for those those who cannot wait and have money to burn, as the cost to get that one delivered is roughly $740.

We’ll keep updating our suppliers page as soon as we have news on the the release of the Samsung NC 20 in the USA and other regions.

More UK stores rolling out their Samsung NC20 stock.

Just noticed that Play UK have put the NC20 on their website and they are offering the white and black version.  They have the machine on sale at £419.99.

£419.99!!! We’ve had a few typos lately, but i’m afraid that isn’t one of them.  Play must have not seen the competition selling this machine much cheaper!  If you’re a U.K shopper after the Samsung Nc20, go to Amazon instead, as they are selling the machine £40 quid cheaper !

1. The Bigger Screen

The NC20 packs in a lovely glossy 12.1″ display, with a relatively big 1280 x 800 resolution. Samsung lead the world with the quality of their screens and, in this case, they have made no exception. This is a slick LED panel with vibrant colours.

Samsung NC20 Netbook stockist update

The Samsung NC 20 is now available to purchase from Amazon for £390 which includes free next day delivery.

Currently they have the white model in stock, with the Black version coming towards the end of the month.  The Samsung NC 20 is also featured as one of Amazon’s ‘Hot Products’ so i’d imagine they are flying off the shelves.

To order direct from Amazon click the link below:

It seems Amazon have labelled the Samsung NC20 a netbook, a few others are  calling it a laptop. Anyway now this has been cleared up, we’ll continue to refer to it as a netbook!

Samsung NC 20 Unboxed Video Review.

Here is (what I think) is the first video review and unboxing of the Samsung NC 20. The more and more I see and hear about this laptop the more excited I become. The video confirms some existing news such as the glossy screen, the 160gb hard drive etc.

The video also shows some new information such as the single mouse button as on the Samsung NC 10, a usb extention cable.   But what is more impressive is that the machine can fully start windows XP in around 35 seconds!

200,000 Samsung NC 20 laptops at launch.

I’ve just finished reading this article about the VIA Nano processor.  The article states that the company has shipped 200,000 for the first quarter of the year.

What makes it more interesting that all of these chips are to be used in Samsung NC 20 laptops!  Samsung must be  expecting a high-demand on the machine after the huge success of their NC 10.

The article has a little comparison about the VIA processor verses the Atom:

The Nano U225 has a lower clock speed than its main competitor, the Atom N270/N280, at a.3GHz versus 1.6GHz/1.66GHz. However, the FSB (front side bus) is considerably faster on the Nano, with a speed of 1333MHz as compared to 533MHz/667MHz. Watt for watt, the Nano is expected to be more powerful than the Atom, but it is also expected to use more watts in the process. We can’t be sure to what degree, but the usual trade-off of battery life for performance will probably come into play here.

We have also done our own investigation into the nano processor, you can find the article here.

Why Does the NC20 Use the Via Nano Processor?

Via Nano

A few readers have asked why Samsung have chosen the Via Nano this time around, instead of the Intel Atom that featured in their Samsung NC10. We don’t know for sure, but here’s what we’ve heard!

Ever wonder why there are so few 12″ netbooks? The reason is: Intel! Their Atom processors are massively popular in netbooks because of their lower power needs.

Black Samsung NC20

Just a quick update to upload a picture of the black NC 20.  The machine was also made available to pre-order at online retailers last week.

samsung-nc-20-black

Looking at the picture, the machine looks fantastic, the black casing looks like it’s made out of the same high quality shiny black plastic found in expensive laptops.  It’s going to be tough deciding whether to take the machine in black or white,  the black looks a little more professional while the white looks more creative.  Either way both machines have the same specification so it’s really down to preference.

We’ll be adding more to the list as online shops and stores are making available their first stock of the NC20. Most retailers have the black and white versions, so it is assumed the other colors will follow after the release. It’s definitely getting exciting now!
